What does a travel and tourism manager do?
The travel and tourism manager is who plans and organise travels for any person or group, wether is private or professional. El técnico en agencias de viajes busca las mejores ofertas, los destinos más originales, las experiencias más memorables, y las ofrece a las personas que quieren viajar. The manager can offer standard or personalised travel offers to the clients.
The travel manager is an intermediary between the touristic sector wholesalers and the people who want to travel. He or she advises people or groups, adapts the offers to the real needs of the client, and negotiates the best possible price with the wholesaler, the hotels or any other tourism company that needs to be hired.
What is the job of a travel and tourism manager?
The event management job has a connection with the tourism sector, but in this case it’s connected to meeting management and professional meetings, congress, presentations…It’s part of what we call the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions), basically, all professional meetings, incentive travel (extras that some companies give to their employees for achieving commercial goals), conventions, congress and fairs.
The MICE sector in Spain is very powerful, because our country is very attractive for professional meetings, due to the reasonable prices and tourist attractions that are offered as a complement to the professional meetings and debates. Spain is specially powerful as a incentive travel destination, because it has multiple activities and unique and memorable experiences for the participants of the meetings.
MICE tourism is also very relevant due to its great profitability that usually offers to the destinations and companies that are involved in this sub-sector.
